This is a parents worst nightmare, and a case that certainly divided the community and even caught the attention of the Commander and Chief and other celebrities. He always advised my brother "Pito" who is a tall dark Puerto Rican to never walk alone, never wear his head phones, always keep his eyes open for suspicious people, respect authority and never walk with the wrong crowd. My father always feared situations like these. I think this was a loose, loose situation for Trayvon and his family. But had Trayvon taken the gun and shot and killed Zimmerman, it might have been viewed as a thug killed a white man. Either Zimmerman would have been dead or Trayvon, Oblviously, we know how it happened. I feel that, that in itself cause the racial tensions and accusations of injustice.there was only two outcomes after the scuffle that happened with a gun involved. Even though perhaps Trayvon might have done some questionable things, Zimmerman deliberately chose to pursue him. It was the stereotype threat that lead Zimmerman to believe that Trayvon was guilty. I think the most impacting Black and White case would definitively have to be the Trayvon Martin trial with George Zimmerman. Yes they are! At minimum they are all guilty of being suspects. Sixty-four percent of African Americans cited a "police conspiracy" to frame Simpson. According to a n ABC News-Washington Post poll at the time of the case found that 70 percent of whites thought Simpson was guilty and 74 percent of blacks thought he was not guilty. But to many black Americans, Simpson was set up by racist Los Angeles police, and the prosecution's case was riddled with holes. According to some, they saw this case as the death of a white man and a white women and a black man who did it. The narrator tries to get away from the racism but struggles to, he come across multiple African Americans that attempt to do the same thing. He also confesses that he doesn’t feel like he’s really involved as he sits in the courtroom. He says, I guess making you live is part of the punishment. Many white believed that OJ had committed the murder. In this journal entry, Steve writes that the authorities take away your shoelaces and your belt to prevent a suicide. This case ignited a huge racial divide in our country. Many people today still believe that OJ Simpson committed the murders and got away with it. Riots occurred throughout the county and this case is still talked about today. After the long trial was concluded, jury members found OJ not guilty. DNA evidence, witnesses and experts were called to the stand during the 10 month trial. Evidence found at the crime scene lead police to believe that OJ was involved. OJ Simpson went to trial for the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman.
